Supported self study

One way of meeting the requirements of the WBQ Language Module.

Due to the high variety in level and in interest of our students, the language module has been delivered through a workshop using www.bbc.co.uk/languages.

  • Students were able to choose which language they would prefer to study (continue with one already studied or start a new one).
  • They could assess their entry level with the language gauge provided on the website.
  • After studying a unit, there are a variety of activities offered (vocabulary exercises, grammar, role-play).
  • Students then keep a log of the units they have worked on and time spent.

An alternative would be to use the site www.learn.cd which, again, is an excellent site for self-study.

A further option (discovered but not tried) is http://multikultura.org.uk/. It seems to offer some more challenging material.
