Introduction

This pack consists of three activities investigating medieval and Roman siege engines.

This pack contains:

  • a historic study of siege engines
  • a design-and-build activity
  • a computer simulation

Pupils will:

  • examine the designs of a series of full scale siege engines
  • develop, build and test a small, model siege engine
  • take part in an interactive simulation of a siege engine

They will learn that they can manipulate variables and as a result, alter the range of their weapon.

This resource pack can be used to address the KS2 design and technology PoS parts 1.1, 1.2, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 2.5 of the national curriculum for Wales.

There are also cross-curricular links to history and science.
