Introduction

This activity allows the teacher to explore the features of atomic structure linked to the periodic table. The table used will display information about the first 20 elements and can be used as a teaching tool to predict certain data before it is displayed. The table gives information about the use or occurence of each element, which is either a use or occurence of the element itself or a compound of the element.

Teachers can illustrate the electronic configuration of the elements, a traditionally time-consuming and untidy teaching activity, and the user can select periods, groups, or individual elements to highlight similarities and differences. There is also a question sequence, which allows students to make predictions about unfamiliar elements.
