Here is a picture of the reading desk for the Torah scrolls. During the service the scrolls are taken out of the Ark, then carried around the synagogue. The people touch the scrolls with their prayer shawls. They show great respect to the scrolls. The scrolls are then placed on the reading desk to be read. |
