Here is the main part of the synagogue. The brown wood in the centre of the picture is the door of the holy Ark. The Ark is the most important part of the synagogue. It is a cupboard which contains the Torah scrolls. The doors are shut in this picture. The Ark always faces towards Jerusalem - the holy city for Jews. |
