This is the main room inside the synagogue. In this picture you can see all the main features of the synagogue. We shall be looking at these in more detail. You can also see the screen which separates the seats of the men from the seats of the women. Usually the men sit in front of the blue screen, although school children are sitting there today. The women sit behind the screen. In the Orthodox synagogues, men and women always sit separately so they do not disturb each other when they pray. |
