19.  Community centre

Many mosques have a community centre attached to them.  This is a building which can be used by the local Muslim community.  Parties are held there like wedding parties, or parties to celebrate religious festivals.  After dark each evening during Ramadan Muslims share food together.   The community centre is also a place where Muslim children can meet together after school to see their friends, to chat and to play games.  In the Yemeni Islamic Centre in Cardiff there is a games room which contains things like a pool table.

The mosque even owns its own minibus.  This is used by the Muslim community, for example, to take the children on trips.

So as you can see, the mosque is not only a place to worship Allah and to study.  It is also the centre of the Muslim community.  It is a place where Muslims can get together with their friends to enjoy themselves.
