The mosque is a place of study as well as of prayer. Muslims come to the mosque to learn more about their religion and about Allah. There is often a separate room in the mosque where study classes and lectures are held on the Qur’an and Islam. The Madrassa is the mosque school – something like the Christian Sunday School. Children between about the age of 4 and 14 come to the madrassa to learn how to read Arabic and the Qur’an. These lessons are often held after school or on weekends.
