As well as performing Salah five times a day, Muslims can also pray to God whenever they wish. Sometimes they use prayer beads to help them pray. These contain 99 beads. This is because Muslims believe that Allah has 99 names, such as ‘the Most Merciful’, ‘the Compassionate’. They will turn the beads in their hand and repeat each of the 99 names of Allah.
