· It is a place to worship God

· It is a place to study.  Sikhs come to the gurdwara to learn more about the Guru Granth Sahib and their religion.  Children are given lessons on how to read and understand passages in the Guru Granth Sahib.  Sometimes children are given lessons on playing the musical instruments in the gurdwara - the harmonium and the tabla. 

· It is a place where Sikhs can come to socialise. Children can come here after school and on weekends to play. Adults can meet to chat with their friends.  They meet together here on festival days to celebrate.  They can also come here to seek advice if they have a problem.
