The most important gurdwara and holy place for Sikhs in the world is the Golden Temple in Amritsar.  Amritsar is in the Punjab in northwest India.  The Punjab is the area where Sikhism began, and where many Sikhs live today. The Golden Temple is a beautiful building.  It is made of marble and partly covered with gold. 

Millions of Sikhs come to the Golden Temple to worship from all over the world.  Every day from morning until evening, the Guru Granth Sahib is read aloud here.  There is also singing and prayers.
