The gurdwara is the place of worship in the religion of Sikhism. Sikhs go to the gurdwara to pray to God. The word ‘gurdwara’ means ‘the house of the Guru’. We shall see what this means shortly. The picture above shows the Bhatra gurdwara in Cardiff.
Besides the building is the tall flagpole with an orange flag (see pictures
below). This is called the Nishan Sahib. It is an important
symbol of Sikhism. The Nishan Sahib is always flown outside a gurdwara.
It shows that the building is a gurdwara.
