The eighth-note rest is introduced in squares 3 and 4. The eighth-note rest (or quaver rest ) indicates a pause one eighth of a square long. Remember to emphasise the first beat of every square. Split the class into 4 groups and rotate the groups clapping, or playing percussion instruments.
