The resources support the ACCAC Unit 4 Our Day Out but they can be used for any project that needs to develop an understanding of gears and how to combine them with frame structures to form mechanisms.

The resources are not to take the place of modelling but provide an extra resource to be used alongside modelling through construction kits.
Our day out

The learning objectives for these resources are:

  • understand how gears can speed up and slow down a machine
  • change the direction of movement
  • change the direction of the movement through 90° using a Crown gear or a simple Bevel gear
