When you look at a map you see lots of things. You might see some things you know like shops, a church or a river. But there are lots of other things on a map too.

On every map there are numbers called coordinates. Look at a map of your area and see if you can find them. These numbers help you find out about new places.

Today you are going to use letters and numbers to mark coordinates on a map. When you find coordinates, you always write the letter first, which is found at the bottom, then the number, which is found at the side.
