	A grid reference is an address on a map. It identifies in which grid square on the map a place is located. It has four digits (eg 7242). The first two digits tell you how far left or right to look on the map. The second two digits tell you how far up or down to look on the map. To remember to look left and right and then up and down, remember the saying "Along the corridor, up the stairs".
