2 - To understand information can be presented in a on-linear way using ICT

3 - To practice speaking to an audience

4 - To write using the fantasy genre for a younger audience

Outline of activity

Pupils ned to be familiar with creating multimedia presentations before they embark on this activity. They will use hyperlinks to create a branching story. Pupils can, in groups, write a fantasy story where the reader can make decisions for the characters e.g. if you want the princess to enter the tower click 1, if you want the princess to enter the forest click 2 and so on. This will allow the children to experiment with inserting hyperlinks and playing around with the structure of a multimedia presentation. The children may find it easier to plan their story on paper with arrows directing the hyperlinks. This allows them to visualise what the computer is doing and the non-linear format. They can then read these stories to younger pupils using the whiteboard, and younger pupils can come up and interact with the story.

Plenary

Pupils can discuss other genres this would work for and how to improve their presentation skills
