Taking Photographs
1. Turn the camera on. Most cameras have a button or a dial on the top of the camera, which turns the power on. If your camera has a dial like this:
Set it to automatic mode. 2. Most cameras have what we call an LCD screen on the back. This enables you to see the picture you're about to take. In bright weather, the LCD screen is sometimes difficult to see, in this event use the viewfinder to position your camera. It's important that you look all around the picture in the LCD screen before you record the image to make sure you've positioned your camera correctly. Make sure there are no unwanted objects in the picture. It is very important to look right to the back of the image, and make sure there is nothing in the background to spoil your shot. 3. Do you need Flash? Flash is an extra light built into the camera. This can be useful if you're taking pictures in dim light or darkness. Pressing the Flash button will give you options such as Automatic Flash, Flash on or Flash off. If you're taking pictures outside on a bright day, you may want to turn the Flash off. 4. Take your picture. You will find what we call the shutter button on the top of most cameras. When you press this button, the camera records and saves your image. When taking your picture always hold the camera firmly. What do you think would happen if the camera moved when we took our picture? Sometimes it's useful to imagine your body is a tripod. Do you know what a tripod is? To do this, hold your camera firmly, keep your feet a short space apart and keep your elbows tucked in. Alternatively, you could rest on a nearby surface such as a wall, or even put your camera on the floor. 5. You can always review the pictures you have taken in the camera, to make sure you've got the pictures you need before you finish your shoot. To do this, the camera may have a review or play button. Press this button and use the arrows on the camera to move through your pictures. |
