Adjusting the Colour Saving Your Pictures

We live in a colour-drenched world. In fact, there are one million colours that our eyes can see, so it is very important that we consider the colour in our projects.

There are lots of symbols associated with colour. Red often means stop or danger, but it also signifies love. At traffic lights green means go, but in other situations it means sea-sickness, envy, good luck or even symbolises extraterrestrials beings.

Colours also have cultural associations, for example in Britain, white is the traditional colour that brides wear, but in China, white is the colour of mourning.

What colour associations can you think of?

We can often improve the way a picture looks by adjusting the colour. Often small changes can have a dramatic effect, so try not to get too carried away. Think carefully about your pictures - perhaps the colours are too bright, or you may not want any colour at all? Perhaps your story has a sci-fi feel and changing the colours could help set the mood?

Look carefully at your images and consider the colour. Do the colours set the mood of your project? How could they be improved?

Watch the movie to find out how to adjust colours using Adobe Photoshop. Follow the instructions carefully.
