This unit explains how:
- the ecosystem is a dynamic system
- an ecosystem develops from a sterile area through distinct successions to a climatic climax
These materials support the "process and issues in physical environments" module (GG1) of the WJEC Advanced Subsidiary GCE in geography, in particular key idea 4 in generalisation C.
Graphics are used to show the dynamic nature of the ecosystem and these processes. A set of background notes are provided as guidance for the teacher.
