Introduction

This activity provides a tool for open-ended exploration of the concept of the Victorian model theatre - a box cut to a theatre shape.

It was possible to manipulate a set of model actors and actresses with rods and to change backdrops.

This is a modern conversion of that concept, which will provide the opportunity to write, re-draft and perform scripted drama.

It links with the key stage 2 attainment target 1 structure - oracy. The main links are English AT1: participate in a wide range of drama activities including role play, improvisation and the writing and performance of scripted drama.

Other outcomes include:

  • evaluating pupils' own and others' contributions in responding to drama
  • expressing concepts confidently and clearly
  • speaking with clear diction and appropriate intonation
