How to log on to a computer. Some prior experience of using an external mouse. Previous experience using spray, fill and undo tools.The ability to open and close a program. How to save a program.

Timings

Two sessions of 45 minutes each

Necessary vocabulary

Paint, palette, fill, spray, undo and rubber.

Suggestions for differentiation

Pupils experiencing notable mouse skill difficulties should be encouraged to design an image that is less demanding to reproduce eg star of David or seven-branch candlestick.

Curriculum links

At key stage 1 pupils should be taught to become familiar with Information and Communications Technology (ICT) hardware and software. They learn to use ICT confidently and purposefully to achieve specific outcomes. They start to use ICT to develop their ideas and record their creative work.
