This lesson encourages pupils to think of new vocabulary for descriptive writing. The activities will encourage whole class/group discussion, collaboration and participation.

The lesson could be used at the beginning of the week to focus pupils on finding new synonyms and using them in their written work. As pupils work on the various literacy activities suggested in the teachers' notes, the interactive activities could be used again to reinforce certain aspects of the lesson.

Using the tools that are provided with an interactive whiteboard (eg pen, highlighter and screen capture) is recommended to maximise the impact of the lesson.
