Session 3.4c: Enhancing the learner journey with mobile technologies

Aim:

To explore the potential of mobile technologies for enhancing the learner journey.

Objectives:

By the end of the session you will have:

  • reviewed the use of different mobile technologies for enhancing the teaching and learning process
  • identified practical applications of mobile technologies in your local situation that can enhance the learner journey
  • identified accessibility issues in relation to the use of mobile technologies for teaching and learning.

Resources:

You will need:

  • a computer with internet access
  • your E-Guides USB memory stick
  • flipchart and pens

Time:

60 minutes

Task:

  1. Your facilitators will present you with an introduction to uses of mobile technologies in teaching and learning. This introduction is supported by the document Why should we consider using mobile technologies in teaching and learning? (10 minutes).

  2. In small groups, complete one of the following activities exploring specific applications of mobile technologies: (30 minutes)

Share your findings with the whole group when you have completed the activity in your small groups.

  1. Working individually or with a colleague from your organisation, complete Activity: Using mobile technologies for enhancing the learner journey for your local situation, considering accessibility issues (20 minutes).
