Session 3.3: Action planning: Cascade

Aim:

To draw up a draft action plan for the delivery of E-Guides cascade training.

Objectives:

By the end of the session you will have:

  • considered the needs of your organisation with respect to      your cascade training programme
  • set SMART goals for your action plan.

Resources:

You will need:

  • a computer or laptop
  • your E-Guides USB memory stick
  • Mind-mapping software (optional)

Time allocated:

60 minutes

Task:

  1. Spend a few minutes reviewing your own notes for thoughts and ideas you have already noted regarding your cascade action plan (5 minutes).

  2. Read the information sheet Applying e-learning to your organisation and make some notes in response to the questions (5 minutes).

  3. Jot down all your ideas for your cascade action plan. Or, you may wish to use mind-mapping software to help you develop your ideas – look at the example Action Plan Initial Ideas and create your own version or amend this draft. The ‘rapid fire’ tool can help to capture ideas and structure can be added afterwards (20 minutes).

  4. Draft your E-Guides cascade action plan (to discuss with relevant staff in your organisation if necessary). First focus on the aims and objectives of your plan.  Remember to make your goals SMART. The information sheet Questions to aid SMART goal setting may help you. Organise your ideas according to your objectives and how you will achieve them (10 minutes).

  5. Next focus on the resources you will need and establish a realistic timescale (10 minutes).

  6. Work with a partner and talk through your plan. You may wish to imagine your partner as a manager in your organisation whose support you need (10 minutes).
