Session 2.8: Web 2.0 workshop

Aim:

To explore Web 2.0 technologies and the ways in which they can be used to enhance the learner journey

Objectives:

By the end of the session you will have:

  • completed an activity using a Web 2.0 application
  • identified ways in which Web 2.0 technologies could be used with your learners.

Resources:

You will need:

  • a computer with internet connection
  • your E-Guides USB memory stick

Time allocated:

45 minutes

Task:

  1. Your facilitators will briefly revisit what Web 2.0 technologies are and how they can be used to support the learner journey (5 minutes).

  2. Choose one of the following activities to complete. These activities will give you the opportunity to explore in more detail some of the technology available and an opportunity to think how this may be useful in engaging your learners (30 minutes):

    1. Activity: Blogs
    2. Activity: Edit Wikipedia
    3. Activity: Create your own wiki.

When you have completed the activity, take a few moments to reflect on how useful you found the technology you explored.

  1. After you have completed the activity, share with the group:

    1. How effective you have found the tools
    2. How you might use the tools within your organisation (10 minutes).
