Session 2.6: Creating accessible e-learning content

Aim:

To explore ways of making learning content more accessible.

Objectives:

By the end of the session you will have:

  • tested approaches to making websites accessible to learners with different abilities
  • tested approaches to making word processed documents more accessible
  • tested approaches to making images more accessible.

Resources:

You will need:

  • a computer with internet connection
  • your E-Guides USB memory stick
  • your Reflective log
  • Spam (on your E-Guides USB memory stick)
  • PowerPoint® presentation:PowerPoint Icon Pop-ups (on your E-Guides USB memory stick)
Time allocated: 45 minutes

Task:

  1. Working individually or in small groups, complete the activities: (30 minutes)
  1. Make some notes in your Reflective log on making learning materials more accessible for your learners (5 minutes).

  2. Share ideas about how you might utilise these techniques in a variety of contexts (10 minutes).
