Session 2.3: Blended learning

Aim:

To review hardware and software resources and plan a blended learning session incorporating e-activities.

Objectives:

By the end of the session you will have:

  • considered how to incorporate e-resources into a blended learning session to enhance the learners’ experience.

Resources:

You will need:

  • a computer with internet connection
  • E-Guides USB memory stick

Time allocated:

45 minutes

Task:

  1. If you have not integrated e-learning into your practice before, you may wish to reflect on the activities you have experienced so far and work with a partner to consider how to incorporate and blend e-resources into a particular learning activity (5 minutes).

  2. Your facilitator will show you the Blended learning game which you can find on your E-Guides USB memory stick. In your learning groups (which you set up during the morning), play the game which prompts you to think about the different hardware and software you have encountered during the course up until now. Make notes of what you know about e-resources and how this can help with planning a blended learning session. A copy of the Blended learning game questions is provided (20 minutes).

  3. As an individual, or in pairs, complete the Activity: Plan a blended learning session, which gives prompts to help you focus on a particular learning activity.  Save your work on your E-Guides USB memory stick so you can return to it and include additional ideas you might develop through your work as an E-Guide (20 minutes).
