Session 2.10: Action planning

Aim:

To review what you have learnt today and to identify what e-learning skills and knowledge you need to develop further.

Objectives:

After this session you will have:

  • reflected on your learning
  • identified new skills and knowledge
  • identified areas for further development/training
  • identified ways of implementing new knowledge and skills.

Resources:

You will need:

  • a computer with internet connection
  • your Reflective log
  • your E-Guide learning plan
  • your partly completed version of My E-learning journey (PowerPoint template that you have already worked on during Day 1)

Time allocated:

60 minutes

Task:

  1. Review the notes you have made in your Reflective log and in your E-Guide learning plan and then take a few moments to reflect on the five different areas of the Generic Learning Outcomes (GLOs) shown in Activity: Generic Learning Outcomes
    (10 minutes).

  2. Choose one of the templates provided – GLOs: Template 1 or GLOs: Template 2 - to make notes on (10 minutes):
    1. what you think you have gained from this training programme so far
    2. areas that you feel you need to develop further
  1. You can use these templates as a basis for a future action plan to increase your skills and knowledge (also see the template provided Personal action plan). Ensure you save a copy of the completed template on your E-Guides USB memory stick, as this forms part of the evidence of your CPD. You might want to share your reflections with the rest of the group and collate your different GLOs on a flipchart (10 minutes).

  2. After completing the reflection exercise, complete the second slide of the provided PowerPoint® template My e-learning journey, which you have already partly completed during Day 1 (15 minutes).

Complete/add to the second slide to record:
    1. what e-learning skills and knowledge you have already developed, using your individual reflections

    2. what e-learning skills and knowledge you need to develop further in order to become an effective E-Guide, and your review of your E-Guide learning plan which skills you will need to develop to start the cascade process. You can use the template Personal action plan for this and link this document into the PowerPoint® slide if you wish to do so. Consider the E-Guides cascade action plan, which you will complete at the end of the training programme. You should discuss this action plan with a senior manager in your organisation to explore how the action plan links in with the organisation’s business plan and e-learning strategy.
  1. Spend a few moments in the learning group that you formed on Day 1 to prepare for the Activity: Pre Day 3 task that you will complete between Day 2 and 3 of the training programme (15 minutes).

Follow-up activities (to be completed before Day 3):

  1. Complete the third slide of the provided template My e-learning journey in the following weeks before returning for Day 3 of the training programme. Your trainers will ask you to share your personal e-learning journey with the group in the morning of Day 3.
    1. In your learning group, complete the Activity: Pre Day 3 task. You will be expected to feedback on your experience in the area ‘Online Task’ on the E-Guides Moodle before you return for Day 3.

    2. Read the sheet Briefing: Pre Day 3 task for further information on learning groups.
