Session 1.1: Introduction

Aim:

To introduce the aims and objectives of the training programme, the learning materials and the role of the E-Guide.

Objectives:

By the end of the session you will have:

  • considered the aims and objectives of the programme and your personal learning objectives
  • identified the ways in which the printed and electronic learning materials complement each other
  • saved a document from the E-Guides USB memory stick to your personal folder
  • explored the models that underpin the training programme.

Resources:

You will need:

  • a computer with internet connection
  • your E-Guides USB memory stick

Time allocated:

30 minutes

Task:

  1. Your facilitator will describe the aims and objectives of the E-Guides training programme, supported by the presentation The E-Guides training programme PowerPoint Icon (5 minutes).

  2. Your facilitator will describe the structure of the documents to be found on the E-Guides USB memory stick (5 minutes).

  3. Download the E-Guides learning plan.

  4. Consider your personal aims and objectives for the programme and note them in your
    E-Guides learning plan. Save this copy of your E-Guides learning plan in the folder for your personal files on your E-Guides USB memory stick (10 minutes).

  5. Complete the Essential skills checklist on SDELC Module 5: Incorporating e-learning into your curriculum area > User skills >Identifying your e-learning skills > Essential skills checklist > SDELC online form (5 minutes).

  6. Share your personal goals with other members of your group (5 minutes).
