This whiteboard activity is designed to show pupils how cam mechanisms operate levers to create a toy. The resource is designed to focus discussion about the components before disassembling and reassembling the device on screen.
Begin by showing pupils the workings of a cam on screen and check their understanding. Ask pupils about the role of the different components and what would happen if one part was missing. Also ask pupils to think of devices that might use cam mechanisms. Allow the pupils to think of decoration and how the final product might look.
