Introduction

This is an introduction to George Fox's "journey through Wales". The teachers' resources could be used on an interactive whiteboard with accompanying relevant student materials. The activities are suitable for year 8 students who have already studied the Stuart period and the Civil War. They will also be aware that historians use sources to find out about the past.

By the end of this lesson students should be able to:

  • understand George Fox's motives in undertaking his journey
  • describe some of the key events of his journey
  • discuss the value of George Fox's journal to historians
  • offer ideas on how we choose to interpret the past
