Introduction

This investigation of the effects of the war on Wales is intended to encourage pupils to:

  • investigate changes which took place for specific people
  • investigate these within a set framework of sources
  • reconstruct a picture of what life was like from the evidence presented
  • investigate the information at different, but appropriate, levels

National Curriculum links:

Unit 3: Life in Modern Wales and Britain

  • to investigate an historical topic and use a range of historical sources, including documents, visual sources and the internet
  • ask and answer questions about the past

Unit 4: An historical topic in a local context

Key skills:

This activity clearly falls within the key skill of ICT. The online activity, together with the suggested extension activities, encourage pupils to extend their skills in using the internet, working between levels 1-4 in the IT levels of attainment.
