Introduction

This whiteboard resource for KS4 biology develops students' understanding of the role of enzymes in speeding up reactions and what happens when temperature and substrate concentration are varied in enzyme-controlled reactions.

Upon completion of this lesson students should:

  • recognise that an enzyme is a molecule that speeds up a reaction without being changed or used up
  • be able to describe the generalised effects that changes in temperature and substrate concentration have on enzyme-controlled reactions
  • understand why temperature and substrate concentration have these effects
