Outline of the activity
Children study satellite images taken from the internet and OS maps to find and plot important geographical features.

Skills Covered
Import information from floppy disc into an application. Saving and printing. Use of ICT equipment to analyse information and share information

Rationale
The satellite images provided a source of up-to-date information not readily available elsewhere.  Overlaying information on screen is an important introduction to GIS.

Result
The final annotated images were then printed out and used to illustrate the river’s journey to the younger pupils in the class.
