A printout of a roamer journeyOutline of the activity
The children were being introduced to using the Roamers and programming a sequence of instructions. They did this within the context of story maps and used creative writing and an art package to complete the task.

Skills Covered
The children used quite advanced planning skills to incorporate the concept of a journey into their stories and then a way to actually direct the Roamer around the story map. Some children used clip art to find graphics to illustrate the key points from their stories for the maps, whilst other actually tried to draw their maps using paint.  They then used word to type in the series of instructions and practiced changing the font size and colour.

Rationale
This activity allowed the teacher to incorporate many aspects of the curriculum and the children were involved in producing an end product which they were very pleased with.
