SpellingsOutline of the activity
Children used PowerPoint to develop their paired spelling work. Children had used the Look, Say, Cover, Write and Check method to work on their spellings. This was translated into a simple PowerPoint presentation. Subsequent spelling lists could be simply added to the presentation providing a long term aid in their spelling work.

Skills Covered
The children used a range of ICT skills during this activity. The children had to create a short PowerPoint presentation to deliver the spellings. Some children incorporated animations but these were not strictly necessary.

Rationale
This activity is a quick, reusable and high motivation approach to spelling practice. The presentations are quickly edited to place new spelling lists and so continue the exercise throughout the year. In older year groups contextual sentences are included.

Results
The children created a highly useful and original approach to spelling practise. The presentations are reusable and easily changed. The simple nature of the slideshows allowed them to be created very quickly and the skills used can be applied throughout the curriculum.
