How was it used?

The intention of this unit was to build on the Frogs investigation available on NGfL Cymru, allowing pupils to extend their learning whilst following a familiar format. The aim of the lesson was to effectively blend the interactive activity with more conventional methods of teaching and group work, in order to address the skills framework and develop thinking.

The IWB resource was used as stimulus and to draw ideas together, but that the bulk of the learning took place away from the computer.

Lessons Learnt

I would have liked the option to turn off the answer on the develop screen so that I could have directed pupils to the resource when they were at home. I’ve found that allowing access to work we have been carrying out in class, outside of the classroom is a great way of getting parents on board with what you are trying to achieve. This type of activity lends itself really well to extended learning opportunities as both parent and child can work on the problem together.
