LAC - Wrexham County Borough Council

We welcome the continuation of the RAISE LAC grant in Wrexham and look forward to continuing work already started.

Summary of Activities

• Letterbox trust-Children in Years 3 and 5 have been able to access monthly reading parcels through the letter box trust. These contained a selection of age appropriate books; tapes; maths/language games.  Pupils and foster carers alike were delighted with the parcels. All comments were extremely positive.
• Purchase of  study books to give additional support to KS3/4 pupils
• Extra tuition
• Purchase of laptops/computer equipment to aid coursework requirements
• Additional teaching assistant support
• Extra places on the Yale College Focus School link programme/14/19 enrichment partnership for lac.More streamlined PEP’s and related target setting.
• Sharing of good practice with Andalucian  social workers and colleagues from neighbouring counties.

Impact

• Fewer exclusions
• Increased take up  of post 16 courses
• Increased GCSE results
• Raised self esteem of LAC
• Improved links with outside agencies
• Improved tracking and target setting.
