Outline of the activity
This work was the Year 1 contribution to a Whole School Project on Where people Work. A 'touch and feel' book called Molly's Hair provided the stimulus with the children looking at the work of the Hairdresser. The children used a graphics program to draw Molly's new hair style after she had been to the hairdresser.

Skills Covered
The children had to open a graphics package. They used the mouse to draw Molly's face and give her a hairstyle of their own. They used the paint brush facility. They saved and printed their work.

Rationale
Using the computer to draw Molly’s new hair style was a different medium from the usual pencil and crayon drawings. It developed mouse control through a fun activity.

Result
The children's pictures were put into their own Hairdressing scrapbook with other cross-curricular work.
