Branchin databaseOutline of the activity
The children chose 5 objects to sort using a branch database program. They had to design their own questions, write a description and produce a branching database. These were then printed.

Skills Covered
The children have to collect, prepare, organise and classify information for processing with ICT. Children have to question objectively and use their research skills.

Rationale
The objective for the Maths lesson was to understand and produce a branching database. The program Flexitree is an ideal program for this. The teacher then encouraged the children to explore Mathematical topics or the topics covered in other subjects such as Music.

Result
In pairs, the children produced branching databases and they printed their data in chart form and in pictorial representation. Each pair then took it in turns to explore each other's databases as a game.
