Ouline of the activity
As part of a school research project on famous people who were born in their locality, children searched the internet and presented the information they found on linked multimedia pages.

Skills Covered
They developed their ability to use the internet as a research tool. The children learnt how to copy and paste images from the internet. They created linked pages using Publisher saving, retrieving, adding to and editing their work. The children used the information that they found to produce fact files on the people they were researching.

Rationale
The teacher wanted to develop research skills and produce a mini web site to enhance a school project on famous people from the school’s locality.

Result
The children have started to create a record of local celebrities which could be further developed as new information was discovered. The use of ICT was important as it allowed this ongoing development and provided interest and motivation for the children.
