How was it used?

This NGfL unit was used to help develop the pupils’ singing ability by using call and response.

The activity was used initially to introduce the pupils to call and response and allowed them to practice the skills required.

They were then used to allow the pupils to work in groups at call and response.

Impact and Outcomes

• Boys respond well to this type of learning – they like hearing other voices singing rather than just the teacher’s voice.
• Having the activity on the IWB meant that the teacher was free to move among the pupils and offer help to those that needed it.
• All pupils were engaged in the task and each group offered ways for the others to improve
• Active listening was promoted as the pupils had to listen carefully to know when to come in.

Lesson Learnt

Having the words and music available in the interactive resource allowed the teacher greater flexibility in the lesson.
