Learning and Teaching Champions Appointed
On 14th February, the Minster for Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills, Jane Davidson, met with the eleven individuals seconded to act as Learning and Teaching Champions as part of the Welsh Assembly Government’s National Pedagogy Initiative.
The aim of the pedagogy initiative is to improve the outcomes for learners by enhancing the pedagogical skills, knowledge and practice of practitioners, creating an expectation that all practitioners in Wales will engage in the most effective learning and teaching.
The champions will work closely with the Department for Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills offering advice on the direction of the pedagogy initiative, suggesting areas of practice that the pedagogy initiative should seek to develop.
The Minister said “Excellent learning and teaching must be at the very core of our work in education. I am pleased that we have attracted these high calibre individuals to work with us to further develop our pedagogy initiative and to guide and steer the work as we move into a new phase of this project”
“Their broad range of contacts will bring a real strength and depth to the pedagogy initiaitive by identifying priorities for action and practical ways to support fellow practitioners”.
The successful learning and teaching champions are:
