LAC - Powys County Council

Powys has developed a targeted/ bespoke approach to educational support for LAC through utilisation of RAISE funding over the past four/five years. Focussing funding on tailored support for individual LAC has resulted in improved educational outcomes and motivation for our LAC population and has raised the profile of education for our carers and professionals in schools and Childrens Services.

The intention is to continue to embed an individualised approach to educational support through the well established PEP (Personal Education Plan) process, involving carers, social workers, designated teachers, individual LAC and the LAC/YOS coordinator. Resources such as extra tuition, mentoring support, laptop p.c.`s, additional Numeracy/Literacy `Catch –Up` programmes, book tokens, access to on- line learning resources both within and outside school and funding for extra –curricular enhancement activities and school trips will continue to be targeted as appropriate to our LAC school population.
