Blaenavon
This unit contains three interactive history resources. The activities are intended to contribute to the development of historical and key skills.

As part of the locality investigation there is an opportunity for pupils to study various topics using a range of sources including plans, photographs, aerial photographs, reconstruction drawings, an animation, census returns, maps and Royal Commission reports.

The first resource, location, uses maps and plans to learn about Blaenavon, a World Heritage Site, and investigate how the town has changed since the early nineteenth century. The world of work resource uses a range of sources to find out about a family who lived and worked at the Blaenavon ironworks. The last resource, houses and homes, studies the living conditions of the ironworkers and gives pupils an opportunity to develop thinking skills, including number skills.

The activities develop an understanding of how the past is interpreted by historians and encourages pupils to reflect on what has been learnt.
