The Titanic
Outline of the activity
The children were extending their ICT skills and literacy skills via the theme of The Titanic. They used research skills to surf the internet for information and e-mail designated sites to ask experts pertinent questions on the topic. The picture below is the cover of a replica guidebook they made by copy and pasting pictures from the internet.
Skills Covered
The children used copying, pasting, saving, retrieving, changing font sizes, types and colours and they developed their ability to use the internet as a research tool. The children used the information that they found and wrote newspaper reports, character descriptions and produced art work.
Rationale
The class teacher was able to get endless amounts of literacy work from this topic which interested the children and allowed them to greatly enhance their ICT skills. This particular topic was successful, especially in supporting internet work.
Result
