To reinforce the language pattern ‘Oes … da ti?’ children carried out simple surveys in groups collecting data on the pets they had. They collected data and recorded it in a suitable table, then they input the information into Starting Graph and produced pictograms and bar charts.

Skills Covered
Children learnt how to use a graphing package to create pictograms and bar charts. They also learnt how to save, retrieve and edit their tables and graphs.

Rationale
Children practise and consolidate the use of the computer program RM Starting graph to create pictograms and bar charts in the context of a simple survey in Welsh.

Result
The children were able to print out their tables and graphs which were used for a colourful class display containing sketches and paintings of the children’s pets and some simple conclusions drawn from the graphs.
