Summary of Proposal
- Increase capacity of the Inclusion Team in the Education Service
- Tracking of LAC
- Appropriate and timely completion of PEPs and reviews
- Co-ordination of care Plans, PEPs SEN Statements
- Home visits for all carers to establish need in terms of supporting educational success of those in their care
- Monitor academic progress of LAC
- Support Social Services with recruitment, induction and training of carers
- Ensure positive home-school links through effective communication
- Signpost carers and/or children and young people to other partner services.
- To increase the capacity of Home Tuition Team in Education Department
- To provide additional tuition for young people in GCSE years
- To provide additional tuition in cases of exceptional need, in other years
- To provide continuity of tuition where attendance is affected by placement breakdown, new placement, etc.
- To assist the LEA in
- Re-launch of LAC co-ordinator in every school
- Regular meeting and networking of all LAC co-ordinators
- Help raise profile and expectations of LAC and celebrate achievement
Summary of Activities to July 2007
- appointment of a full-time Inclusion Officer
- provide a rapid response service to schools regarding concerns over attendance, level of engagement and also potential education placement breakdown
- provide clear lines of contact for social workers and foster carers
- attendance and truancy monitoring
- provision of additional tuition
- Consult with and provide advice and support to foster carers to enable them to support education
- Recruitment drive for additional tutors-specialists
- Source a multi-media lending library to improve literacy provision
