Comic strip storyboard
Outline of the activity
The children had previously written a play script with a theme of classroom bullying. They were asked to adapt the play script to create a comic strip storyboard presentation of their plays using a digital camera and Powerpoint/Word to create a sequence of slides.
Skills Covered
The children were able to plan the storyboard, working in groups to plan and produce slides using the pictures captured using the digital camera as backgrounds and then adding speech callouts containing text. They were then able to animate the slides adding meaning and structure to the final presentation.
Rationale
This activity provided an interesting, stimulating context for the children to further develop their skills in using a multimedia presentation package. A good example of the way ICT can enhance collaboration, writing and presentation skills.
Result
The children produced a variety of comic strips which were printed out and displayed. Those who used Powerpoint for their storyboard were able to present it to the rest of the class using laptop computer and projector.
